BIND Associates participated in the 4th International Conference on Public Health in Africa (CPHIA 2025) held at the Durban International Convention Centre in Durban, South Africa. Organized by the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention in collaboration with the Government of South Africa and global partners, the conference brought together policymakers, researchers, development institutions, and health leaders to address pressing priorities shaping Africa’s public health systems. The annual conference has become one of the continent’s most important convenings for dialogue on health security, innovation, and health system strengthening.

During the conference, Dr. Okeke represented BIND Associates as an invited panelist in a session titled “A Bottom-Up Paradigm Shift for Sustainable Health Financing: Placing People at the Heart of Health Financing Where Local Voices and Innovations Meet National Priorities for Inclusive, Resilient Systems.” The discussion highlighted the importance of community-centered financing models that elevate local voices, support grassroots innovation, and align health financing strategies with national development priorities. Panelists explored how inclusive financing approaches can strengthen health systems by connecting community-led solutions with policy frameworks and institutional investment.

Advancing Sustainable Health Financing in Africa

Sustainable health financing remains one of the most critical challenges facing African health systems. Many countries continue to rely heavily on external donor funding while simultaneously working to strengthen domestic resource mobilization and long-term financial resilience. Discussions at CPHIA emphasized the importance of developing African led financing models that prioritize local ownership, community participation, and innovative funding mechanisms to support universal health coverage and health security.

BIND Associates is actively contributing to this dialogue by working to connect diaspora expertise, partnerships, and healthcare innovation with opportunities across the continent. At CPHIA, BIND also highlighted its growing network of healthcare member organizations that are contributing to innovation and collaboration in global health. These include PharmD Live, Medicalincs, Mytle Health, Center for Advanced Specialty Surgery (CASS), Avante Orthopaedics, Summit Medical Group, Operation Stand Walk Run, Solution for Mindfulness, Healthlincs, and Avant Interventional Psychiatry.

By showcasing these organizations, BIND aims to strengthen partnerships that support healthcare delivery, medical innovation, and sustainable health systems development across Africa. Participation in forums such as CPHIA enables BIND to help bridge diaspora expertise, institutional partnerships, and locally driven solutions that advance resilient and inclusive health systems across the continent.
